About Me

Hi! I’m Lou Duchin (she/they) and I am a filmmaker currently getting my MFA in Film and Animation with a concentration in Screenwriting at the Rochester Institute of Technology. In my time at RIT, I’ve had the pleasure of working on several short films and was even a 2024 finalist for the Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program with my spot “How’s The View?” which screened nationwide in AMC theaters in the fall of 2024.

Prior to filmmaking, I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2019 with Bachelor’s Degrees in Theatre Arts and Mass Communications. This led me to an eccentric career working all kinds of jobs including nurse, clown, psychic, and youth librarian. However, I spent the majority of my career working in production management for a performing arts center helping other people tell their stories.

After several years, I realized I had stories of my own and decided to return to school to learn how to tell them. The stories we live and create are some of my favorite parts about being alive. My goal in my career is to share the ones that help people laugh, smile and feel less alone. I hope that my stories help people feel seen and inspire them to live truthfully as themselves.

Whether on a team or on my own, I can’t wait to use my experience, organizational talent and my positive attitude to tell as many stories as I can. Maybe we can work together sometime too!
